Clam Digging in Westport: October through January

If you’ve ever visited Westport, Washington, you know that our little coastal town is famous for fishing, crabbing, and its rich maritime traditions. But one of the most beloved seasonal activities here is razor clam digging. From October through January, the beaches come alive with headlamps at dawn and buckets in hand, as locals and visitors alike dig for one of the tastiest treasures the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

For many of our guests most travel a minimum of an hour to get to Westport.  Some have children with them. This is for you who have the kids asking, “Are we there yet?” and “How much longer?”. There is only so many times you can say “a little while longer” or “we are getting really close”.

SPRINGTIME ADVENTURES IN WESTPORT

As Spring approaches, families begin to plan vacations and head out to explore. Temperatures get a bit warmer, and blue skies appear more often. Even here on the coast, nicer weather is coming. The fog will lift a bit earlier, and fog will roll in a little later. As the days get longer and a tad warmer, we start to see more visitors.

2025 Mermaid Festival Every Weekend in April

The ever-so-popular annual Mermaid Festival is expanding this year. This festival is held every weekend in April. The event is free and family friendly, including admission to the museum. The event takes place at the Westport Winery Garden Resort, home of the International Mermaid Museum, nestled halfway between Aberdeen and Westport.
